Adil Sheikh, Other MPAs Expelled From Constituency NA-205

GHOTKI: Taking action on a complaint of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has expelled Haleem Adil Sheikh and other MPAs from Constituency NA-205 (Ghotki-II).

Polling for the by-election for National Assembly constituency NA-205 Ghotki-II from Sindh province is ongoing. The polling procedure commenced at 8 am sharp and will conclude at 5 pm without any break.

PPP wrote a letter to ECP, complaining that PTI leaders were entering the polling stations and threatening those who had reached to case their votes.

To this, ECP expelled MNA Dua Bhutto, Haleem Adil Sheikh and also PPP member Ali Nawaz Meher from NA-205 constituency. It banned the leaders from entering Ghotki until the by-polls are concluded.

Nonetheless, according to ECP, a total of 0.36 million voters including 0.2 million men and 0.16 million women are present in the constituency.

290 polling stations have been set up across Ghotki out of which 125 have been termed as “extremely sensitive”.

A strong contest is expected between Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Sardar Muhammad Bukhsh Khan Maher and independent Sardar Ali Muhammad Khan Maher.

56 polling stations are for men and 56 for women whereas 178 other will be available for both genders to cast their votes.

The seat had fallen vacant after the death of PTI leader and Narcotics Minister Ali Mohammad Meher on May 21.
