Islamabad (Sep 6, 2017): Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) has detected Rs1.5 million irregularities in acquiring service of security firm for Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
According to audit report of ECP accounts, the auditors have unearthed irregularities amounting to Rs1.58 million in hiring of security firm services for the ECP.
As per the report, the ECP hired the services of two guards of a private security firm for the commission for one year from June 25, 2015 to June 25, 2016. The guards were hired against a salary of Rs30 thousand each. The report revealed that the ECP instead of making payment of two guards had been paying salary of four guards to the company.
The auditors observed that while hiring the services of the security firm the ECP did not consider quality. It added that without extending the contract, the ECP has been paying to the company till now.Despite having enough security for the ECP members, the services of the private security firm were hired.
The AGP has held ECP responsible for all the irregularities in the process. The report has recommended to ECP to hire service of such companies which meet the specified qualification.
