ISLAMABAD: Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Office on Friday rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s assertion that AGP was defending Prime Minister Nawaz Sahrif in the Panamagate case.
AGP Office in a statement issued here termed the remark of Imran Khan as inappropriate and unconstitutional, adding that the AGP and government lawyers were bound to assist the court and represent the government.
The spokesman said that the AGP was issued notice by Supreme Court in Panama leaks case to assist the court on the matter. He said that Imran assertions that AGP and government lawyers were protecting the Prime Minister in Panam case was unconstitutional and inappropriate.
The spokesman said that assisting the court and representing the government was their constitutional responsibility.
