Aleem Khan Appears Before Accountability Court Lahore

LAHORE: Former Punjab Minister for Local Government Aleem Khan has been produced before Accountability Court in Lahore in assets beyond means case as his judicial remand ends today (Tuesday).

Police, on this occasion, has taken foolproof and top-notch security measures to avoid any mishap.

Lady police officials have also been deployed outside the court with all unrelated personnel prohibited to enter the court premises.

On March 18, Accountability Court of Lahore extended judicial remand of former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Aleem Khan till April 02 in assets beyond known sources of income case.

As the hearing began, the court inquired NAB prosecutor Waris Janjua about the filing of reference. He replied that very soon a final report will be compiled and prepared.

However, Aleem Khan, while presenting his arguments, asked the court to issue directives to file reference on urgent basis.

ACCOUNTABILITY WATCHDOGS ARREST ALEEM KHAN

In February, the Accountability watchdogs arrested minister at the time, Aleem Khan, after he was unable to satisfy NAB Lahore.

The minister had appeared before the NAB after he was summoned in the offshore companies cases.

In what was his fourth summoning before NAB, Aleem Khan was unable to bring along the asked documents of Financial Monitoring Unit (FMU), Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

Although, NAB had previously notified him to appear before them with the important documents.

Moreover, when asked regarding the transaction of Rs900 million in his companies; FZC and ANA, the Provincial Minister of Punjab was unable to provide an overwhelming response, consequently not being able to satisfy the NAB officials.

Nonetheless, soon after the arrest of Punjab’s Minister Aleem Khan, he forwarded his resignation to Chief Minister of the province, Usman Buzdar.
