LAHORE: Punjab Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has hinted at changes in wheat and flour subsidy and said that common man should benefit from the subsidy instead of flour mills.
Abdul Aleem Khan, in a statement, said that there should be a separate and higher subsidy on flour for low income people as the supply of flour in five-star hotels and local restaurants at the same price is unfair.
The senior provincial minister said that an integrated policy for a targeted subsidy will be introduced to provide maximum facilities to the poor. A “coupon system” for flour subsidy is also under consideration, he revealed.
He said that data from Ehsaas program and network of utility stores can be used for the provision of subsidy to masses. Federal government will also be consulted in this regard, he added.
