All Set to Mark 10th Death Anniversary of Benazir Bhutto

Larkana (December 27, 2017): The preparations to observe 10th Death anniversary of former prime minister of Pakistan and PPP chairperson, who was assassinated in terror attack in Rawalpindi on Dec 27, 2007, have been completed as the rallies of enthusiastic workers started to reach her monument in Gahri Khuda Bux Larkana.

A meeting of central executive committee with the chair of party chairman Bilawal Bhutto was held in Noaudero to take review of the preparation for the day.

Workers’ rallies are arriving in the dusty village from different parts of the country and were being guided by party volunteers to their designated camps established inside the main pindal.Tricolour party flags, banners and life-size portraits of Benazir Bhutto, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and Asif Ali Zardari adorn the venue of the public meeting as well as the route to the pindal, venue.

Reception camps have been set up in Larkana and adjoining towns which are welcoming participants with party songs being played at full volume. Almost all hotels have been booked to capacity though they had raised rent to take advantage of the event.Security arrangements around the mausoleum and the camp office of former president Asif Zardari at Naudero has been beefed up.

The day will start with Quaran Khawani at her graveyard and later a Mushaira, poetry, to eulogize her will be held at the same venue.A big public rally will start at around 1 pm, which will be addressed by the PPP chairman and her son Bilawal Bhutto and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari along with senior party leadership.

The chief minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has announced public holiday on December 27 on account of Benazir Bhutto Death Anniversary in the province and he also issued notification in this regard. The summary of public holiday was sent by the department of Services Sindh.Benazir, twice elected as the prime minister of Pakistan, was assassinated on December 27, 2007, as she returned after addressing a mammoth rally at Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh. Gunshots were heard, followed by a suicide blast at the venue, which left the former premier among nearly two dozen others dead.

In a special message on his mother’s death anniversary, Bilawal said that those who killed Benazir Bhutto had actually planned to kill the whole nation, but former president Asif Ali Zardari saved the country by raising “Pakistan Khappay” slogan after her assassination in Rawalpindi.

He said that Benazir Bhutto lost her father, brothers and even mother fighting for the rights of masses and against the dictatorial vultures hovering over the country.In her valiant battle against the forces of darkness and elements of dictatorships, she eventually embraced martyrdom in line with the legacy of her father Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, he said.
