Alleged Forced Conversion: IHC Orders To Send Hindu Sisters’ To Safe House

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday has ordered to send Hindu sisters’ Reena and Raveena to a safe house.

Chief Justice of IHC Justice Athar Minallah Khan heard a case pertaining to a plea seeking protection filed by two Hindu sisters’ and their husbands.

Both sisters’ Reena and Raveena and their husbands appeared before the IHC.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad also appeared before the court.

The petitioners told the court that they have embraced Islam by their own will and married these two guys.

Moreover, both sisters told the court that they have life threats and should be provided protection.

DC Islamabad told the court that the police are investigating the matter and a detailed report will be submitted after that.

To this, Justice Athar in his remarks said that one should remember the sermon of last Hajj of the Prophet (P.B.U.H) before oppressing minorities.

Minorities have rights in Islam and no one will be allowed to oppress them, Justice Athar added.

After a short hearing, Justice Athar Minallah ordered to send both sisters to a safe house.

As per details, the allegedly kidnapped two Hindu sisters who later embraced Islam has approached Islamabad High Court earlier on Monday for protection.

The sisters, hailing from Daharki, have a stance in their plea that they were impressed by the teachings of Islam for a long time, and, therefore, they “did not accept Islam under any influence or pressure or life threats.”

In their petition they told the court that they are being harassed and sought security for themselves and their husbands by naming interior ministry, chief minister of Sindh, inspectors general (IGs) of Punjab and Sindh, PEMRA, Minister Ramesh Kumar and Hari Lal as respondents They pleaded with the court to direct concerned authorities to ensure necessary security measures for them.

On March 23, they embraced Islam in Khanpur.

Earlier on 25 March, Police arrested four persons involved in what was being “anticipated” by the media and reports their alleged abduction and forced conversions to Islam from their home in Daharki on the occasion of Holi last Wednesday.

It is pertinent to mention here that two Hindu sisters were allegedly abducted from Daharki area of Sindh province and were taken to Rahim Yar Khan Punjab.

A social media confessional video was surfaced which showed that the two sisters have accepted Islam but the family came out to protest as they believed that they were forced to issue a confessional statement.
