Anti-polio drive has started in Lahore, Faisalabad and other cities of Punjab as well across Khyber Pakhtwankhwa province.

A total of 4,300 anti-polio teams are formed to administer anti-polio vaccine door-to-door to 1.5 million children under five in all the Union Councils of Punjab’s provincial capital Lahore. Relevant Town administrations will monitor the campaign while anti-polio camaps are also established at Lahore railway station, government hospitals, other busy areas and at entry and exit routes. Polce personnel will provide security cover to the volunteers.

Anti-polio drops will be administered to 800,000 children under the age of five in Multan. According to district administration action will be taken against parents refusing to get the vaccine administered.

Meanwhile, in Peshawar the eight-day anti-polio drive in 43 Union Councils of Peshawar has also begun during which anti-polio vaccine will be administered to 124,000 children. A total of 4,000 mobile teams are formed and children of IDPS and Afghan refugees are specially included in the campaign. Stringent security measures are made.
