The divisional bench of the IHC consisting up of Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani heard the appeal petition insisting the court to annul the punishment awarded to former premier Nawaz Sharif in the Al-Azizya reference case.
The court asked the counsel of the petitioner Khawaja Harris what he did for preparing the case book?. On which Khawaja Harris responded that first time we were informed after preparation of the case book which was uncompleted though while this time now we have been informed before the preparation of the case book.
Khawaja Harris told the court that we created and later provided a complete chart informing which documents are missing from where in the case book. On which, again, the court asked: “had you submitted an application to the registrar office?” To which, Khawaja Harris replied that he did not submit any application in the registrar office, while he informed the court that we are still helping in completing the case book.
Justice Amir Farooq ordered Khawaja Harris that “get the case book to be completed in a single attempt that the registrar office could not be approached again and again so that proceeding of the case could be forwarded further while we wanted to see only such record which appeared in the course of the trial court hearing.”
The honorable judge further added that “Already documents reached to a huge number of 20 thousand and not increased it further” adding that “paper book is created only for the collection of the records.”
The Court asked the NAB Counsel “Has you sent an e-mail to the registrar office?”
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani in his conversation with Nawaz Sharif counsel, Khawaja Harris “How many hours you will take for the arguments.”
Justice Amir Farooq said that the case is not going to complete in a single hearing while Khawaja Harris insisted the court to provide time for the completion of the paper book.
