Appointing Shehbaz as PAC head ‘a blunder by Imran Khan’: Rasheed

LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Saturday said that appointment of [Opposition Leader in the National Assembly] Shehbaz Sharif as Chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC) was ‘a blunder by [Prime Minister] Imran Khan’.

While addressing a press conference in Punjab capital, Ahmed said that Imran Khan should take nation into confidence if the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was agreeing to returning looted money [to the national treasury].

He added that neither deal nor deal would be accepted as ‘free of cost’. However, he added that they [PML-N and PPP leaders] will prefer to die instead of returning [looted] money.

Ahmed claimed that the deal was turned ‘unsuccessful’ while it was half per cent chance existed for provision of ease [to corrupt leaders].

Taking aim at Shehbaz Sharif again, the federal minister demanded that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) should take back Rangers’ security from the PAC chairman. He alleged that they saved their ailment for securing a bail in difference cases. Ahmed claimed that Shehbaz Sharif should know his ability to watch beyond the wall. He said that the ‘coward politicians’ were trying to become heroes from corruption cases.

Sheikh Rasheed predicted that politics of Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif came to an end while he will definitely join Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s long march against corruption.

Commenting over achievement of railways ministry, he said that the department managed to retrieve Rs320 million fine within three months while running 12 freight trains by Pakistan Railways was put on top priority.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate Thal Express on February 12 while his ministry will hold meeting on progress of ML-1 project in current week.
