Rawalpindi (February 09, 2018): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa ratified the death sentence awarded by military courts to seven hardcore terrorists, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement issued on Friday.
The military’s media wing said the convicts were involved in terrorist activities, killing of civilians and soldiers, and attacks on educational institutions, the law-enforcement agencies and the armed forces.They were responsible for the martyrdom of 85 security personnel and injuries to 109 others. Weapons and explosives were also seized from their possession.
ISPR said that convicts have confessed their crimes before the court. The ISPR said apart from the 7 terrorists, three other convicts had been awarded imprisonment for varying periods by the military courts.
On January 19, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa endorsed death sentence of another 10 hardcore terrorists, awarded by military courts.The convicts were involved in terrorists activities, killing of innocent civilians, attacks on educational institutions, slaughtering of soldiers, attacking Law Enforcement Agencies and Armed Forces of Pakistan.
In total these 10 terrorists were involved in killing of 41 personnel while injuring 33 others. Arms and explosives were also recovered from their possession. These convicts were tried by military courts. Besides these 10, another 3 convicts have been awarded imprisonment for varying period by military courts.
