ISLAMABAD: Asad Umar, former Finance Minister and current Chairman of Standing Committee of National Assembly on Finance, on Thursday tabled a charge sheet against the federal budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2019-20.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader demanded probe into price-hike for sugar in the newly proposed budget as he addressed the National Assembly floor.
“New crisis should not be produced by adapting zero tradings. Such stances should not be taken which may drive the confidence of the public”, Asad said while criticizing the budget proposed by his own political party’s government.
“Rs450 billion which were collected via JIDC are stuck in nowhere due to pending cases. The taxes should be lifted from cooking oils, sugar, ghees. More steps should be taken for the working class”.
“Imposition of new taxes will only create more issues for farmers as well. Several problems are present in our economic system which have been ongoing for a prolonged period of time”, he added.
