Lahore (December 06, 2018): Accountability court on Thursday has sent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA) Shehbaz Sharif to jail on judicial remand in Ashiana Housing scandal after his previous physical remand ended.
According to details, NAB sought an extension in Shehbaz’s remand in today’s hearing session. Although, the accountability court rejected NAB’s plea for any further extension Shehbaz’s remand and ordered that he be sent to jail.

The NAB prosecutor failed to provide satisfactory answers after which the court rejected the accountability watchdog’s request for a further extension in Shehbaz’s remand and ordered that he be sent to jail.
Meanwhile, police personnel also arrested several PML-N workers for clashing with the security officers over removing barriers outside the court.PML-N Supporters Brawl With Police, Create Chaos Outside AC
The supporters of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) created scenes of utter menace outside of an Accountability court in Lahore.
According to reports, PML-N supporters who arrived outside the AC in Lahore today in regards to the hearing of their Party President Shehbaz Sharif, brawled with the Police, leading to chaotic scenes outside the court.
Reportedly, when PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif entered the Accountability Court in NAB’s custody, some PML-N Supporters also attempted to enter in the premises of the court.Following this, Police officials resented and started baton-charging upon the raging PML-N supporters who jostled the Police when being restricted to enter the court.
According to further reports, numerous have been arrested by the Police for shoving and jostling the deployed Police officers.
Numerous protestors are injured by the baton-charging in the midst of the ongoing chaos outside the accountability court.
Active PML-N leader, Maryam Aurangzeb, while addressing the supporters over these scenes, said that the current fake mandated government is afraid of the PML-N leadership. She added that the patience of PML-N shouldn’t be tested any further.Over the present tense situation outside accountability court, PML-N leader Malik Ahmed Khan said that peaceful protest is everyone’s right and condemned the arrest of PML-N supporters in the blazing event today.
Shehbaz Sharif’s arrest
NAB had arrested Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in the Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme scam on October 5. The former chief minister was charged with awarding illegal contracts to his favorite firm.
He was apprehended during his appearance before NAB in Saaf Pani Company scam. Sources told that three files were tabled before him. The bureau quizzed Sharif regarding a tender awarded to a private consultancy company for a survey of the Saaf Pani company.
The PML-N president had failed to satisfy the probing team of the bureau during the investigation and was ultimately arrested.The anti-graft watchdog had claimed that the company did not conduct any kind of survey but nevertheless was provided a lucrative sum of Rs 1.5 billion.
Ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s principal secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad became an approver in the case. Fawad Hassan Fawad, in his statement before NAB, had claimed that he had awarded a contract to a “favourite firm” in the Rs14 billion Ashiana Housing project at the behest of Shahbaz Sharif.
The anti-graft agency said that the contract for the housing scheme was won by a construction company titled Chaudhry Latif and Sons but Sharif cancelled it and later on awarded the contract to Lahore Casa Developers – a proxy group of Paragon City (Pvt) Limited, which is said to be owned by ex-Railways Minister Saad Rafique”.
