Asif Zardari elects as 14th president of Pakistan

Islamabad: The government allied parties joint candidate for presidential elections Asif Ali Zardari has become the 14th president of Pakistan.

Presiding officer, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) chief Justice Amir Farooq announcing the result apprised that Asif Ali Zardari has secured 255 votes from the upper house of the parliament, the senate and the lower house of the parliament, the National Assembly (NA).

Whereas the opposition, Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) candidate Mahmood Khan Acakzaye has secured 119 votes from the parliament.

The Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Zardari has become the president for the second time as he got 410 electoral votes.

Whereas Mahmood Khan Achakzaye has gotten 179 electoral votes.

Punjab Assembly

Asif Zardari has also gotten victory in Punjab Assembly as he secured 246 votes.

On the other hand, the opposition Sunni Ittehad Coucil (SIC) candidate Mahmood Khan Achakzai has gotten 100 votes.

Whereas six votes were rejected.

Total 352 MPAs out of 353 cast their votes in the Punjab Assembly.

The government allied parties joint candidate for the presidential elections Asif Zardari has also gotten victory in Punjab Assembly as he secured 246 votes.

On the other hand, the opposition Sunni Ittehad Coucil (SIC) candidate Mahmood Khan Achakzai has gotten 100 votes.

Whereas six votes were rejected.

Total 352 MPAs out of 353 cast their votes in the Punjab Assembly.

Balochistan Assembly

Asif Ali Zardari has also gotten victory in the presidential elections from the Balochistan assembly with clean swept as he secured all 47 votes in the Bolochistan Assembly, Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfaraz Bugti apprised.

The CM Balochistan announcing Asif Zardari victory said that he will soon visit Balochistan.

Asif Ali Zardari will continue his struggle for Balochistan like in the past adding that Mahmood Achakzai belonging to this province couldn’t get any single vote.

Sarfaraz Bugti expressed thanks to all the allied parties for voting for Asif Zardari. He also expressed special thanks to the opposition party, the National Party for casting all their votes for Asif Zardari.

He apprised that the National party has agreed to voting for Asif Zardari after holding talks.

The former interior minister in the caretaker set-up Sarfaraz Bugti said that Asif Zardari had taken vital steps of the 18th amendment and Aghaze-Huqoqe Balochistan including others.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly

The Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) candidate Mahmood Khan Achakzai has gotten only victory with 91 votes in the KP assembly.

Whereas the government allied parties candidate Asif Zardari got only 17 votes in the KP assembly.

One vote rejected in the KP assembly.

Total 108 members have cast their votes in the KP assembly out of 118 seats. The JUI-F MPAs boycotted the presidential elections.

Sindh Assembly

On the other hand Asif Zardari has secured 151 votes in Sindh Assembly while Mahmood Khan Achakzai got nine votes while one vote was rejected.

The total 161 MPAs cast their votes out of the 162 MPAs.

The JI boycotted the presidential elections in the Sindh Assembly.
