KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is observing ‘Black Day’ today (Tuesday) across the province against the arrest of former president Asif Ali Zardari after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected the bail plea.
According to details, PPP party activists are recording their protest in different parts of the Sindh province by wearing black armbands at the district headquarters.
Earlier on Monday, the PPP’s workers and supporters held protest country-wide over the arrest of the former president Asif Ali Zardari in money laundering case.
The PPP workers in reasonable numbers gathered in Karachi and chanted slogans against the government and burnt the effigy of PM Imran Khan.
They chanted slogans in favour of their leader Asif Ali Zardari carrying the banners inscribed with Go Niazi Go, Selected PM unacceptable and revenge is not acceptable.
PPP workers held a rally in Gujranwala to protest against the arrest of PPP co-chairman. The protesters carried placards and party flags and chanted “Aik Zardari Sb Pe Bhari.”
A protest was also lodged in Hyderabad over Zardari’s arrest. The workers of the PPP youth council gathered in front of the district council and raised anti-government slogans.
Earlier, former president and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Monday surrendered himself to a team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) after Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur’s pre-arrest bail plea in the money laundering case.
Following the refusal of his pre-arrest bail, a team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) accompanied by police personnel had reached the residence of PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in order to arrest him.
Zardari was arrested from Zardari House as his children Bilawal Bhutto and Asifa were also present during his arrest.
