ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorist court in Islamabad directed the police to arrest the accused in the Pakistan Television (PTV) headquarters attack case including Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri, whose arrest warrant had already been issued by the court.
The ATC judge Syed Kausar Abbas Zaidi heard the PTV Headquarter attack case. The judge expressed his anger over police failure to implement the arrest warrants of the accused issued by the court.
On failure to appear before the court by PTI chief Imran Khan and PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri, the court directed police to implement the arrest warrant issued for Imran Khan, Tahirul Qadri and 68 others accused by Nov 17 and present them in court.
Some six accused appeared before the court on Friday, upon this the court exempted them from personal appearance in future.
It is to be mentioned here that the 76 were booked after a mob of protesters belonging to the PTI and PAT stormed PTV headquarters and forced its staff to take PTV’s transmission off the air on Sept 1, 2014.
