KARACHI: An Anti-terrorism Court on Saturday indicted four alleged terrorists of banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) for involvement in murder of a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MPA and his son.
The court also declared the absconding accused in the case as proclaimed offenders.
An ATC heard the murder case of MQM MPA Sajid Quraishi and his son. Police produced four members of LeJ arrested in the murder case. The court indicted the accused and read out the charges to them. The accused rejected the charges and opted to contest the case.
Upon this the court issued notices to the Investigation Officer and prosecution witnesses for next date of hearing and adjourned the case till April 19, 2017.
The accused include LeJ’s Kazim Ali Shah, Talha alias Vikki, Shahab alias Chota and Obaidur Rehman. While the court declared five LeJ men nominated in the case, who are absconding, as proclaimed offenders.
According to prosecution, the accused killed Sajid Quraishi and his son in June 2013 in North Nazimababad. During investigation the accused confessed to killing of Quraishi on the order of Naeem Bukhari. According to the accused, the objective of the murder was to stoke sectarian tension in the city.
