Lahore (June 22, 2018): Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner demanding the removal of NA-129 Returning Officer Ghulam Murtaza Uppal.
In the letter, Ayaz Sadiq alleged that the returning officer is biased and supporting his political opponent Aleem Khan, the candidate of PTI.
The speaker claimed he was summoned in person by the returning officer during scrutiny of nomination papers whereas Aleem Khan was exempted and only called in after the PML-N protested the move.
Ayaz Sadiq said it would be deemed pre-poll rigging if the RO continues on his post.
Earlier on June 14, The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) candidate for National assembly Yasmin Rashid filed 12 objections to the returning officer over the nomination papers of former speaker Ayaz Sadiq.
Dr Yasmin Rashid informed the RO, in her objections that Ayaz Sadiq has failed to write correct information in the affidavit provided by the Supreme Court as he was also not enclosed the documents of ownership of Sardar Chemical Industries.
“Ayaz Sadiq is the owner of several luxurious cars but he has not enclosed the documents and even he did not mention the details of his foreign tours,” she alleged in her objection. 
She also informed the RO that Ayaz Sadiq intentionally had not mentioned his educational record, he is the owner of commercial properties and his wife has given loan of Rs 300 million to Adnan Ali, however, he did not mention the sources of income.
She requested to the RO that Ayaz Sadiq should be declared disqualified for election as he does not remain eligible as per article 62, 63.
