Baldia Factory Case: Rangers Seek indictment of Rauf Siddiqui

Karachi (September 26, 2017): Sindh Rangers on Monday submitted a request in an Anti-Terrorism Court to indict Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Rauf Siddiqui as a suspect in the Baldia factory fire case.

Sindh Rangers told the court that the prime suspect in Baldia factory fire case, Rehman Bhola, had disclosed Siddiqui’s involvement in the incident. Rangers prosecutor said that Joint Investigation team in Baldia factory fire case nominated Siddique’s name in its report.

The court ordered Rangers prosecutor to give more arguments about Siddiqui’s induction in Baldia Factory fire on next hearing and adjoined the court by October 14. Bhola had said earlier that the factory was deliberately set ablaze on the orders of MQM leader Hammad Siddiqui for the non-payment of extortion money. The fire killed at least 259 workers in the garment factory in Karachi’s Baldia Town area.

Rahman was arrested in December 2016 in Bangkok by Interpol. The Federal Investigation Agency brought Abdul Rahman alias Bhola to Karachi from Bangkok later on.
