Ball Tampering Case: Sri Lanka Trio Banned By ICC

Dubai (July 17, 2018): International Cricket Council (ICC) has banned Dinesh Chandimal, the Sri Lanka captain, coach Chandika Hathurusinghe and manager Asanka Gurusinha, in the ball tampering case.

According to ICC’s statement, trio were given eight suspension points by independent Judicial Commissioner, Michael Beloff QC, after their team refused to take the field on the third day of the second Test against West Indies in St Lucia last month.According to ICC, trio will miss the second of the current two-Test series against South Africa and the first four ODIs of the five-match series.Eight points and six demerit points each have also been added to the disciplinary records of Chandimal, Hathurusinghe and Gurusinha.On June 19, Chandimal, who pleaded not guilty, was banned by the International Cricket Council for the final Test.
