Bangladesh Set 250-Run Target For Afghanistan To Chase

Abu Dhabi (September 23, 2018): Bangladesh set Afghanistan 250-run target in the Asia Cup Super Four match at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Sunday.  

According to the details, Bangladesh scored 249 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in stipulated 50 overs in the match.Bangladesh’s batsmen Mahmudullah scored 74, Imrul Kayes 72 and Liton Das made 41 runs in the innings. Whereas Afghan pacer Shakib Al Hasan took 4 wickets for 42.

After winning the toss, Liton Das and Nazmul Hossain Shanto opened the innings for Bangladesh.

Following a cautious start, Bangladesh were dealt the first blow on the final ball of the 5th over when Shanto was trapped Aftab Alam’s bouncer and gave catch to Rahmat Shah.Despite losing first two wickets for 18 runs Bangladesh somehow managed to keep the scoreboard ticking as Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das put up a 63-run stand for the third wicket. Rashid Khan ended the pair when he dismissed Liton for 41 runs.

Mushfiq, who becomes the third Bangladeshi player to complete 5,000 runs during his innings, suffered the same fate two overs later after scoring 33 runs.Bangladesh made two changes from seven-wicket mauling against India, bringing in Imrul for Mosaddek Hossain and debutant spinner Nazmul Islam for Rubel Hossain.

Afghanistan brought back Samiullah Shenwari for Najibullah Zadran in their only change from the three-wicket loss to Pakistan in the previous game.
