Being Chased For Past Two Days: Sherry Rehman

Islamabad (July 12, 2018): Opposition leader in Senate, Senator Sherry Rehman said that she was being followed by two suspicious cars for the past two days.

Speaking on the floor of the Senate, the PPP senator warned that if her surveillance wasn’t stopped then she would provide the registration numbers of those vehicles to authorities.

She lamented that neither there was security during this election, nor equal chances.“Should not be questions raised over the atmosphere in which the elections are being held,” Sherry asked. “We do not want to carry any more bodies.”

Following Sherry Rehman’s address, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani constituted a committee for monitoring security of election candidates.

He directed the Ministry of Interior and National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) to regularly present a report to the committee about how to deal with such threats.

Earlier on, the death toll in the Peshawar suicide attack, which claimed the life of Awami National Party (ANP) leader Barrister Haroon Bilour, jumped to 20 on Wednesday.

Presently, 65 people injured in the suicide attack are seeking treatment at Lady Reading Hospital, authorities confirmed.

The blast occurred in Yaka Toot area of the provincial capital, as Haroon arrived at the stage to address supporters.
