Bilawal Announces Free Electricity For People Of Thar

THARPARKAR: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday labeled the Thar coal power plant a “pride of Pakistan” and said that the entire country would be benefitted from the electricity generated by the newly constructed plant.

Addressing a ceremony after inaugurating the 660MWs coal power project in Thar, chairman PPP Bilawal said, “this is one of the country’s “most successful projects”. Chairman PPP also revealed that project was a dream project of his late mother Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

“My late mother had dreamed to provide electricity to the entire country with Thar’s coal,” said Bilawal.

“This is one of Pakistan’s most successful projects. This is Naya Thar. This is Naya Pakistan,” added chairman PPP.

“PPP always delivered with best of his abilities to serve its people, this is what you can call ‘good governance’. Other parties only talked about starting mega projects we actually did it! This is what you can call a ‘mega project’,” added Bilawal.

Bilawal said he was proud to have inaugurated a mega project that is completed under public-private partnership according to the vision of her mother.

He also announced to provide the free electricity to the residents of the region once the project starts generating electricity to its full capacity.

Bilawal on this occasion also announced to build a campus of NED University of Engineering and Technology in Thar.

Earlier today, Chairman Pakistan Peoples (PPP) inaugurated a power plant of 330MW of Thar Coal Power Project Block-II.

According to sources, the Federal Minister of PowerUmar Ayub represented the federal government in the ceremony. The project has inducted as much as 660 MW of power within the system.

The inauguration ceremony was held at Islam Kot where there are Block-II mines of the coal are located. The said power plant will be first ever of its kind within the region.

The ceremony was also attended by Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah, former Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah and several other provincial and federal ministers.
