Bilawal Backs NA Session Requisition on Shehbaz Arrest

Islamabad (October 06, 2018): The Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto lamented the arrest of the opposition leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif and said PPP supported the National Assembly session requisition submitted by PML-N over the arrest of Shehbaz Sharif.

“If there is a need to sign the requisition he will sign,” he said while informal talks with media persons Islamabad.

He denounced the way Shehbaz Sharif was arrested and said that if he was accused of any case the legal formalities should be accomplished in this connection.He informed the journalists that he has signed the petition regarding re-opening of Shaheed Bhutto Reference as it will be filed in supreme court soon.

Responding to a query over accounts committee, Bilawal said that government was escaping from accountability by keeping the chairmanship of the public accounts committee.

Ayaz Sadiq Contacts Khursheed Shah

Former speaker and PML-N leader Ayaz Sadiq contacted Syed Khursheed Shah and sought the PPP’s support on the requisition of the National Assembly session.

Khursheed Shah said that he talked to Bilawal Bhutto, who supported the requisition of the session.He said that opposition leader is an important part of the parliament, adding that the PPP always struggled for the supremacy of the parliament.
He said that the government should inform the national assembly about arrest of the opposition leader.

Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) requisitioned a National Assembly (NA) session over party president Shehbaz Sharif’s arrest.

Representatives from the opposition including PML-N chairman Raja Zafar ul Haq, former NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Rana Tanveer Hussain and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal’s Abdul Ghafoor Haideri visited Qaiser’s house in Islamabad to submit the request for the emergency NA session.
