TRIPOLI: The bodies of 74 migrants were found on a beach near the western Libyan city of Zawiya on Tuesday.
A spokesman for the Libyan Red Crescent Mohammed al-Misrati said that a torn rubber boat was found nearby and he expected more bodies to surface as such boats usually carry up to 120 people.
They were all adults, mostly from sub-Saharan African countries. The migrants were leading to Europe when their boat capsized.
The officials said that millions of people migrate to Europe every year due to civil war in Syria and poverty in Africa.
