Story of the movie ‘Gold’ is set during the period 1936 to 1948, however the film’s time travels around the first 2 years of India, after distribution of the subcontinent.

The story of the film revolves around the first hockey team of independent India, who won the Gold Medal by defeating the country, Britain in 1948 Olympics.

Akshay Kumar will be portraying the role of Bengali hockey coach, Tapan Das , who not only pleased Indian government in 1948 but also gathered hockey players to play hockey and beat Britain. Mouni Roy will be the playing the role of Mouni Roy, who supports him in his mission.
‘Gold’ has been released worldwide today on the occasion of Indian Independence day.
