Cabinet Approves New Hajj Policy-2018

Islamabad (December 27, 2017): The federal cabinet here on Tuesday approved the new Hajj policy for 2018.

The Hajj Policy and Plan, 2018, was presented before the cabinet during Tuesday’s meeting. While deciding not to increase Hajj dues this year under the Government Hajj Scheme, the meeting approved the policy with certain amendments.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi chaired the cabinet meeting, which approved the new Hajj policy-2018. Federal Minister of Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf will hold a press briefing today to highlight salient features of the Hajj Policy 2018.

Stay in Saudi Arabia during the Hajj has been reduced from 38 to 30 days in the new Hajj policy-2018, so as to decrease the pilgrims’ expenditure, said the sources.

Pakistan’s total Hajj quota is 179,210, of which 60 percent of total allocated Hujjaj would perform the sacred religious ceremony through Government Hajj Scheme while 40 percent would perform the Hajj through Private Hajj Scheme, the sources added.The cabinet also accorded permission to sign the revised Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development and the Ministry of Employment and Labour of the Republic of Korea, on sending and receiving of workers under the Employment Permit System.
