Can’t Confirm Whether Blood Sample Drawn From Memon: AKUH

Karachi (September 05, 2018): The Agha Khan University Hospital has clarified that the hospital received Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) lawmaker Sharjeel Memon’s blood samples from another hospital and can’t confirm if it was drawn from the patient.

The Agha Khan University Hospital on Tuesday said, “AKUH did not draw the blood sample from the patient. It is, therefore, not possible for AKUH to confirm whether the sample was drawn from Mr. Memon or when it was drawn.”

A statement released by the AKUH says that it received a blood sample and a letter requesting a blood test by Dr. Ziaudding Hospital on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 12:03 pm and the blood sample was sent for analysis to laboratory “as per routine”.The statement says that any hospital can send blood sample to AKUH Clinical Laboratories for analysis and it provides the report for a charge.Earlier on September 03, the medical report of former Sindh information minister Sharjeel Memon revealed that no trace of liquor were found.

During the CJP visit to the hospital where Sharjeel Memon was admitted two bottles of liquor were found from his room.

According to the report copy available to Abbtakk News Memon’s blood samples were sent to two hospitals for testing after Chief of Justice of Pakistan in a surprise visit found bottles allegedly containing alcohol in his hospital room. The medical test was conducted in a private hospital.On September 01, Pakistan Peoples Party leader Sharjeel Inam Memon was shifted to Karachi Central Jail after Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar found alcohol bottles, cigarettes and drugs in his hospital room during a surprise visit.

Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Saqib Nisar visited private hospital in Karachi, where he expressed his concern over recovery of alcohol bottles from room of former Sindh Information Minister, Sharjeel Memon.

As the chief justice entered the former Sindh information minister’s room on the sixth floor of Karachi’s Ziauddin Hospital, which had been declared sub-jail, no nurse or doctor was present.

According to eye-witnesses, the chief justice examined Memon’s room for nearly three minutes and even questioned about the PPP leader’s health.

Bottles of alcohol, drugs and cigarettes were found from Memon’s room which the court staff confiscated.

The chief justice upon return to SC’s Karachi Registry remarked, “I found three bottles of alcohol from Memon’s room.”

“The attorney general should visit and see what is happending,” he added.Hours after the CJP’s surprise visit, police sealed Memon’s hospital room and shifted him to Karachi Central Jail.

Blood samples of the former Sindh information minister were also taken.

Later, he heard the cases at Karachi registry, he remarked that, ‘I visited private hospital of Karachi and recovered 3 Alcohol bottles from Sharjeel Memon’s room’.

CJP said that Sharjeel Memon said regarding incident that these aren’t mine. CJP said in his remarks that this is the situation of Sindh government. Later, he ordered Attorney General to look into this matter.After Clifton, he visited Cardio hospital, and raid at political prisoner Anwar Majeed’s room, CJP said that he examined different products in Majeed’s room, and has taken some records into charge.

CJP Saqib Nisar is heading three members bench in Karachi registry today, for hearing of major cases. While, PTI’s MPA Imran Ali Shah is present in the court, in case of physical assault of citizen.

On the other hand, residents of Mehran Town staged protest outside Supreme Court registry, before arrival of CJP. Residents said that they are being vacated from their houses, over claims of fake files.Protesters alleged that women and kids are being assaulted at Mehran Town, and plead to CJP for help.

Memon was under treatment and in judicial custody at Ziauddin Hospital, where his room was declared a sub-jail.

The facility housing the PPP MPA is one of three hospitals that the chief justice made a surprise visit to this morning before arriving at the court.

The CJP addressed the newly appointed attorney general, saying: “Anwar Mansoor Khan sahib, pay a little attention to this issue as well.”After the notice by the CJP, the Sindh chief secretary and DIG Prisons Aftab Pathan reportedly reached Ziauddin Hospital in an effort to recover the liquor at the hospital.

The provincial minister is accused of embezzling around Rs6 billion while heading the provincial information department.
