BAGHDAD: A car bomb explosion killed at least 20 people and injured 45 other in Southwestern Baghdad on Monday.
Police said the bomb went off at a busy time in Amil, a business district of Baghdad. The car bomb was detonated in a busy market of Iraqi capital and authorities feared death toll could rise.
Rescue officials shifted the bodies and the injured to the hospital. Police launched investigations into the explosion. No group has claimed the responsibility of the explosion so far.
On the other hand, Islamic State militants kidnapped an Iraqi police colonel and eight other officers in Mosul. IS shifted the hostages to an unidentified place.
