Cases against grade 18 to 22 officers registered without FACC permission

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has admitted in a statement in Islamabad High Court that the corruption cases against officers of grade 18 and above were registered without the permission of federal anti-corruption council (FACC).

Submitting a report in IHC during hearing, on a petition over the registration of cases against grade 18 and above officers without federal anti-corruption council, FIA director legal admitted that the cases were registered without  FACC permission. He told the court that according to rules- 2002 FIA must required the permission of FACC before any action against grade 18 to 22 officers.

The issue raised in IHC over the cases against former MD Pakistan Television and other officials.

Sources told that following the admission of FIA the corruption cases against several officers will become controversial, however some official expressed the apprehensions that the FIA admission came to rescue some big fishes.

The cases of corruption against government officers were being registered by FIA in the light of court’s orders in past.
