Census case hearing in SC: Govt asked to give clear response on census

Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday (today) has sought clear response from the government over census while at the occasion, Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali said that the government makes every matter sensitive.

The two member bench of the SC in chair of CJ Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard the case regarding census.

Attorney General told the court that the census is a sensitive issue adding that  for credibility of the census army’s participation in the process is necessary.

At the occasion, Justice Qazi Faiz expressing anger on the government said that does government has its credibility? adding that government avoid matters declaring them sensitive and just the census has to be carried out not a war.

The CJ asked that why there is need of army security in Lahore and in others big cities? The CJ said that the government makes matter sensitive. The CJ also raised question that if someone filed petition in the Election Commission of Pakistan seeking not to carry out elections without census, then what will be the government’s point of view.

The Court instructed the Attorney General  to take clear response from the government and submit the response in the next hearing of the case.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till after Eid.
