Islamabad (September 21, 2018): Information Minister Fawad Chaudhary on Friday said that China has been taken into confidence over Saudi Arabia inclusion as third partner in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) plan.
The information minister took to Twitter and said, “Yes China has been taken into confidence, expansion of CPEC is in China and Pakistan interest.”

Earlier on September 20, Federal Information Minister Fawad Choudhry said that Saudi Arabia will be the third member of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Addressing media in Islamabad, Information Minister Fawad Choudhry briefed about Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.

The invitation was extended by the Prime Minister Imran Khan-led delegation that travelled to Saudi Arabia. It was the first diplomatic trip for the premiere.
“The premier has reassured Saudi Arabia that Pakistan is with them, KSA’s security is Pakistan’s security. We will always stand together.”
Saudi Arabia assures Pakistan of ‘maximum assistance’
“A high-level coordination committee has been formed to better bilateral ties and the initiative has the complete support of the PM,” Chaudhry announced.He said that a high level Saudi delegation will arrive Pakistan in October this year to formally discuss the different important issues trade and security.

Chaudhry said that Pakistan’s main interest lies in cooperation with Saudi Arabia on matters of trade and security.
“A high-level coordination committee has has been constituted [to look into matters of trade and commerce] and it has the complete backing of Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud and PM Khan,” Fawad Chaudhry said.He said that Saudi Arabia is the first country that Pakistan has invited to become a third partner in CPEC and the projects that Saudi Arabia would be investing in will be smoothed out during the Saudi delegation’s visit, scheduled for the first week of October.
“We have also assured the Saudi leadership that we will continue to provide security to their country and provide strategic support wherever needed,” Chaudhry said.
