SC Orders IGP Punjab To Arrest Journalist Killers in 4 Days

Lahore (April 07, 2018): The Supreme Court on Saturday ordered Inspector General Punjab to arrest the culprits behind the killing of a journalist, Zeeshan Butt, associated with a Urdu daily, within four days.

A two member bench headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar initiated the proceedings into the suo moto case over the killing of a journalist in Sambrial area of Punjab’s district Sialkot.The chief justice asked the IGP Punjab as to why the culprits behind the killing are yet to be arrested and to which party they belong.

To this, the IGP Punjab said that the four accused in the case are affiliated with the PML-N. He, however, said that the names of the four accused are placed on Exit control list.During the proceedings, the IGP Punjab sought a week time to arrest the culprits in the incident but the court rejected his plea and directed him to nab all of them within the four day deadline.
