Karachi (June 09, 2018): Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Saturday expressed satisfaction over cleanliness condition in Karachi.
During the hearing, CJP appreciated provincial government and said that he is satisfied after seeing garbage-less Karachi.
Advocate Shahab Usto told the court that 915 schemes have been completed and the projects related to the sewerage system have also been implemented.
Karachi is facing shortage of 260 million gallons of water every day, however, this situation can also be handled till December this year, he added.Meanwhile, CJP asked Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar about the blocked drainage paths, for which, the mayor assured him that the system has been improved.
To this, Akhtar, said they have started work on clearing drains and it would be completed soon.
Advocate Shahab Usto suggested the government should be given time till July 2019 to complete drainage-related work.
However, the chief justice remarked that all the relevant schemes should be completed by December 2018.
