Lahore (April 21, 2018): The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar on Saturday took notice of appointment of the former principal secretary of the Punjab chief minister Tauqir Shah as Pakistan’s Ambassador to World Trade Organization in Geneva.
The chief justice, who was hearing a suo moto case over abroad appointment of Shehbaz Sharif’s principal secretary, also summoned Tauqir Shah in next hearing of the court.

Tauqir Shah was reportedly removed from the post of CM Punjab’s principal secretary after the Model Town incident and was sent on an abroad posting despite opposition from bureaucracy.
During the hearing, the chief justice asked the provincial minister for Health Khwaja Salman Rafique as to why he is feeling nervous over summoning of Tauqir Shah. To this, Rafique said that he was responsible of his acts only not the others.
The court also directed secretary establishment to submit record pertaining to appointment of Shah as Pakistan’s ambassador to WTO in Geneva, a city of Switzerland. The chief justice in his remarks asked if this is the same country where people use to dump their illegal money.Her further said that if needed the incumbent principal secretary could also be summoned in the case.
A divisional bench headed by the chief justice along with Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan, whose house came under fire last week, is hearing the cases pertaining to hospital conditions in Punjab province, fees of private medical colleges, clean water, appointments in 56 companies and pollution at Lahore Registry Today.
