CJP Takes Notice On Non-Issuance Of Transgender’s CNICs

Islamabad: (17 June, 2018) The Chief Justice of Pakistan has issued notice to the Punjab Government, Chief Secretary and Akhuwat Foundation, for non-issuance of national identity cards of transgenders.

According to the details, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Saqib Nisar has taken notice of not issuing  identification cards of transgenders. The Supreme Court issued notice to the Punjab government, Chief Secretary and Akhuwat Foundation for tomorrow. Hearing of this case will be held tomorrow morning in the Supreme Court Lahore Registry.Yesterday, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar reached fountain house along with his wife, where he visited workers of various employment fields, patients and distributed gifts to them.

On the occasion, Chief Justice said that it was a pleasure to visit Fountain House. When no one will work, someone will have to start working for the nation. Also mentioned that he is paying special attention towards saving people from debt and providing water.

During the visit of the Fountain House, transgenders appealed him to take a notice and said that despite being a Pakistani citizen, they do not get basic rights, their identification cards are not being issued by NADRA.
