Lahore (October 4, 2017): Justice Syed Mazahir Ali Naqvi of Lahore High Court resumed hearing of the case pertaining to massive corruption in the clean drinking water scheme of the Punjab government earlier today.
The court expressing anger at the non-submission of the detailed record of the budget and the expenditures of the company remarked that if the said details were not provided to it at the next hearing it would summon Chief Minister of Punjab.
The petitioner Sania Kanwal advocate leveling charges of massive corruption in the clean water company says that ten of millions of funds allocated for the said company are being spent on tours of Dubai but these expensive visits are not benefitting the ordinary man in any way.
The petitioner pleads the court to issue order for the investigations of this massive corruption.Today the CEO and other officials of the safe water company appeared before the court and submitted a report. The court expressing dissatisfaction at the report reprimanded the relevant authorities and remarked that the orders of the court are not being implemented by the Office of the Advocate General Punjab.
The court warned that if the detailed report over the budget and expenses of the clean water company are not submitted on the next date of hearing the court would summon the chief minister Punjab.
It may be mentioned here that on the 19th of last month Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had said that billions of rupees were thus far allocated for implementation of “Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani Programme”.Chairing a high-level meeting in Lahore to reviewed progress of the programme Shahbaz had ordered speedy execution the Clean Drinking Water Programme.
It may also be mentioned here that in my this year the National Economic Council had approved Rs 2.140 trillion development budget for fiscal year 2017-18. Of this Rs 2.140 trillion total development budget for 2017-18 a sum of Rs 12,5 billion was allocated for and initiative name “Clean Drinking Water for All”.
