Peshawar (October 19, 2017): Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has inaugurated the construction work on the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit Project on Thursday.
The Mega project of estimated cost of Rs57 billion would be completed within a record period of six months. Rapid bus system would start from Chamkani via GT Road to Hayatabad.
Under the project, 300 air-conditioned buses would be on roads along with special seats for women passengers. Special 10-foot tracks will be constructed on both sides of the road.
About 500,000 passengers would have the opportunity to travel in the Peshawar Rapid Bus Transit Project on daily basis.
It is pertinent to mention here that during the work on the project, the traffic would be put on a single road in the city. On the main routes like GT Road, Charsadda Road, Dalazak Road and Pajagai Road, the traffic would be diverted for six months.
While talking to the inaugural ceremony, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak said that project is directly related for the facilitation of masses. He directed all the concerned to strictly follow the time line fixed for the project. The quality of work should be ensured without wastage of time.
He said that KP government will fulfill Imran Khan’s objective for the province.
“We are looking forward for the development of KP. Peshawar will be among the modest cities in Pakistan,” he said.
