KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Friday directed Universities and Boards Department Government of Sindh to put Vice Chancellor Sindh University Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat under suspension with immediate effect.
According to a notification, “In exercise of powers vested in him under section-13 of the University of Sindh Act, 1972, as amended by Sindh Universities and Institutes Laws (Amendment) Act 2018, the honourable Chief Minister Sindh has been pleased to place Prof. Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat, Vice-Chancellor, the University of Sindh under suspension with immediate effect under the finalization of inquiry already instituted against him.”
The notification states that that suspension will continue until a corruption inquiry against Burfat concluded. The Sindh Anti Corruption Establishment has registered a corruption FIR against Burfat and the investigation was underway.
The CM through the same notification has given the acting charge of VC SU to Pro VC of Laar Campus Prof Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro.
