CNG Stations Closed For 24 Hours Across Sindh Again

Karachi (December 17, 2018): The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has decided to close all CNG Stations across the province for 24-hours. 

According to a notification, CNG stations across the province will remain closed tonight and will now re-open tomorrow morning (Tuesday) at 8 am.

The CNG Stations were opened at 8 pm on Saturday night before being shut down again today morning at 8:00 am.

Moreover, SSGC has also decided to open gas station three days per week and soon a schedule for the gas provision days will also be released by the SSGC.A meeting has been summoned by Sui Southern Gas Company today in which the company, after discussion with relevant bodies will prepare a schedule for the weekdays in which CNG Station will be opened.

It is pertinent to mention that the stations were opened on Saturday night after being shut down for six straight days.

Earlier yesterday, the Sui Southern Gas Company informed that Compressed natural gas (CNG) stations will be shut down by 8 pm and will be reopened by Tuesday 8 am.Compressed natural gas (CNG) stations reopened all over the province after a week hiatus as the government restored supply to CNG sector.

The motorists took a sigh of relief on the availability of the energy source, meanwhile, the public transport commuters also appreciated the move as the public buses have started their regular operations.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan earlier on Saturday announced the government had decided to resume gas supply to the CNG sector, almost a week since the crisis hit CNG stations in Karachi and left public transport in disarray.“We held detailed talks with the CNG association earlier today. I am pleased to announce that we will resume gas supply to the CNG sector at 8:00 pm tonight,” the minister for petroleum told reporters in Karachi.

The minister said that a gas shortfall had led to the issue, adding that he visited the Sui Southern Gas Company(SSGC), the supplier of gas in Sindh and Balochistan, and Pakistan Petroleum to ascertain the reason behind the shortage.

He added that domestic and commercial consumers throughout the country are the government’s top priority and they will face no load-shedding.

Industries in Sindh will also face no gas load-shedding, Sarwar added.
