Cold, Dry Weather in Most Areas of Country during Next 24 Hours

Islamabad (November 17, 2017): Mainly cold and dry weather is expected during the next 24 hours (8am today to 8 am November 18)in most parts of the country. However rain thunderstorm with light snowfall over the hills is expected at a few places in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi divisions, Islamabad, Upper FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit- Baltistan.  Foggy conditions are likely to prevail at a few places in southern & central parts of Punjab during morning hours.

Pakistan Meteorological Department has also said that a shallow westerly wave is still affecting upper parts of the country and likely to persist over the next two to three days.

During the last 24 hours rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills occurred at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Zhob divisions, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Islamabad and Kashmir while at isolated places in Lahore divisions. The lowest temperature in the country were recorded at Kalat with minus four degree centigrade, Skardu minus two degree, Quetta and Malamjabba minus one, and Kalam zero degree.

During the last 24 hours rains lashed many areas of the country. In Khyber Pakhtwankhwa province Balakot, Kakul, and Saidu Sharif received seven millimeters of ran;  Dir, Malamjabba, and Parachinar five millimeters,, Peshawar 4mm, Bannu 3mm, Lower Dir, Risalpur, Kalam, and Drosh 2mm, and Mirkhani and Chitral received one millimeter of rain.

In Punjab, Islamabad Golra was lashed by nine millimeters of rain, while Bokra and Saidpur districts were lashed by 12 and six millimterrs of rain respectively; Rawalpindi both Shamsabad Chaklala areas received seven millimeters of rain; Kasur 5mm, Lahore 3mm), and Chakwal 2mm.

Zhob city of Balochistan received 10 millimteers of rain.

In Kashmir, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, and Gari Dupatta cities received eight, six, and 4 millimeters of rain respectively.
