Cold weather, rains to persist in January: Met Office

KARACHI: Pakistan Metrological Department has said that very cold, dry weather and rains are expected to persist across the country in the whole month of January.

Met office predicts another system of rains and snow falls in the last week of January. More rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected within 24 hours at scattered places of upper KP (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar,Chitral and Mardan divisions), upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions), Islamabad, upper FATA, Kashmir, while at isolated places of Makran division  and Gilgit-Baltistan. Very cold and dry weather is expected in other parts of the country in next 24 hours.

 According to the details, two to three weather systems are likely to pass across the upper parts of Pakistan resulting in near normal rain, snowfall in January 2017. Fog with variable intensity is likely to prevail in Punjab, Sindh and plain areas of KP during January.

Met office said that normal rainfall and slightly above normal snowfall is expected during the month of February.
