RAWALPINDI: Commander US and NATO forces in Afghanistan General John Nicolson on Monday visited Miranshah in North Waziristan.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), during the visit to Miranshah the US General was briefed about ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb. He hailed the Pakistan Army’s successes in the ongoing operation.
Corps Commander Peshawar Nazir Ahmed Butt received General Nicolson upon reaching Mirnashah. The NATO forces commander also visited Miranshah Bazaar.
Earlier, General Nicolson called on Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ. ISPR said that during the meeting issues relating to regional security, border management at Pak-Afghan border, anti-terrorism came under discussion.
On the occasion, Army chief said that the allied forces were playing important role in capacity building of Afghan security forces.
He underlined the need of Pak-Afghan’s borders management, saying that it woild help control illegal cross border movement and elimination of terrorism
