Contempt of Court: Firdous Awan Submits Unconditional Apology In IHC

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Special Assistant (PMSA) on information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has submitted an unconditional apology in Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the contempt of court case against her and Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan.

The IHC bench headed by its Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard the contempt of court petition against the PMSA and the Federal Minister for Aviation.

The counsel of petitioner Jehangir Jeddon opined that Federal Minister Gulam Sarwar Khan said that the release of Nawaz Sharif is a part of a deal and prayed the court to take action against the minister under the contempt of the court.

To which, CJ IHC Athar Minallah remarked that it is a very sensitive issue while he asked whether the Minister said such things what the petitioner counsel said adding that how can the Minister say that a false medical report was represented adding that the government through their ministers expressing distrust on the state institutions.

Firdous Ashiq Awan told the court that there is no such policy what the Minister had said it can be the Minister’s own point of view while she ensured the court matter will be brought to the notice of the Prime Minister while she said that she is not in a position  to say something from behalf of the Minister.

The CJ IHC remarked that the PMSA and the Federal Minister for aviation have passed statements against the judiciary and both the cases will be heard all together adding that the court has complete trust in the parliament adding that if the Federal Minister will give such a statement which will deprive people trust on the institution.

The court has instructed to make a statement of the Federal Minister of aviation given in a current affairs show on a private Tv Channel as a part of the judicial proceeding.

The court issuing contempt of court notice to Ghulam Sarwar Khan for submission of response adjourned the hearing till November 14.

Later, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan talking to media persons says the government is working to bring reforms in every sector and issues related to the judicial system will be resolved after consultation.

She said the process is underway to remove the name of Nawaz Sharif from Exit Control List.

In reply to a question regarding the health of Asif Ali Zardari, Firdous Ashiq Awan said the government will accept the report of the public hospitals instead of private hospitals and PPP should adopt due course for remedy.
