Lahore (December 11, 2017): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday issued notices to federal government and other respondents on a petition seeking contempt of court proceeding against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for criticizing judiciary.
Justice Shahid Karim of LHC conducted hearing on a petition filed by one, Amina Malik.
The petitioner took the plea that Nawaz Sharif though his statements was trying to make judges and Supreme Court’s verdict on Panama case as controversial.She added that Nawaz Sharif had started a campaign against the judiciary and did not let an opportunity to slip away to criticize judiciary.
She added that Nawaz statements and speeches were tantamount of attack on judiciary. She pleaded the court to order contempt of court proceeding against Nawaz Sharif.After hearing arguments of the petitioner’s counsel the court issued notices to the federal government and other respondents seeking replies from them.
