Islamabad: Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday approved bail of accused involved in the corruption cases in the Sindh’s department of tourism.
A divisional bench of the SC headed by Justice Musheer Alam heard the bail petition of Ghulam Murtaza Dowood Pota,Roshan Ali Qanasro and Altaf Memon.
During the course of the hearing, counsel of Ghulam Murtaza Dowood Pota informed the court that the NAB has made his client an accused who had submitted an application against the corruption in Sindh department of tourism while detailing the matter he apprised the court that his client Ghulam Murtaza Dawood Pota wrote a letter to Chairman NAB about corruption of worth Rs 170 million in his department.
He said that on an identification of the corruption in his department his client has been removed from his job through a departmental inquiry.
The court approved the bail of Roshan Ali Qanasro, Ghulam Murtaza Dowood Pota and Altaf Memon until Friday while issued notice to prosecutor general NAB and asked reply from the NAB.
After the hearing, the NAB tried to arrest accused Roshan Ali Qanasro, Ghulam Murtaza Dowood Pota and Altaf Memon, however on the insistence of their lawyers the court stopped the NAB from the arrest and ordered the accused to ensure their appearance on Friday.
The court adjourned the hearing till Friday.
