Court Fails To Indict Shaukat Aziz, Liaquat Jatoi

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Tuesday heard a case pertaining to the abuse of powers and expressed anger over the disappearance of the accused suspects.

As per details, Justice Arshad Malik of accountability court heard a case pertaining to the abuse of powers.

The court expressed its anger as all the accused suspects were absent from the hearing including the former premier Shaukat Aziz, Liaquat Jatoi and one other suspect.

The court, however, failed to indict all the accused of the case because of their absence and no answer was submitted in this regard.

During the hearing, acquittal pleas were submitted by the accused Liaquat Jatoi, Yousuf Memon and Ghulam Nabi Mangrio.

To this, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor opposed their acquittal pleas and told the court that they have concrete evidence against them which will be presented when the trial will be started.

The NAB sought one week time from the court to produce the accused suspects which were accepted by the court.

The court then adjourned the case till March 22.

It is pertinent to mention here that a reference was filed for embezzlement by the NAB against the former PM Shaukat Aziz, Liaquat Jatoi and others in May 2017.
