ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday granted interim bail to the former president Asif Ali Zardari till May 22.
As per details, a division bench of the IHC comprising on Justice Amir Farooq and Mohsin Akhtar Kyani heard a case pertaining to Fake Accounts Case. The court heard on seven pleas by Asif Zardari and three from Faryal Talpur. Both Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) appeared before the court for seeking an extension in the bail for the fourth time.
The court after a short hearing approved the bail plea of the former president till May 22. The court approved bail for surety bonds of Rs five hundred thousand.
IHC also approved an extension of bail till June 12 in Opel inquiry and Park Lane cases against the former president.
Earlier today, the former President Asif Ali Zardari has filed yet another plea in IHC seeking pre-arrest bail in Fake Bank Accounts case.
The petition states that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned Asif Zardari tomorrow (Thursday) for probe in a company case where his arrest may take place, hence, the court may accept the tabled plea in order to bar NAB from making the arrest.
Reiterating the stance on the accountability wave, it has claimed that former president is being targetted intentionally on the basis of political revenge.
Details of NAB inquiries are mentioned in the plea where Chairman NAB and Deputy Director have been made parties.
It is to be noted that Asif Zardari has filed a total of six pleas for his bail in Islamabad High Court as of yet.
