ISLAMABAD: Saying the future of Pakistan and China is the same Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif added that the China Pakistan Economic Corridor project will bring prosperity to Pakistan as well as the entire region.
Talking to Chairman Board of Directors Bank of China Tian Guoli who called on him here today Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the “All weather” relationship is based upon shared principles and interests that form the foundation of cooperation in diverse fields.
Matters pertaining to cooperation between the two countries in the banking sector were discussed during the meeting.
Highlighting China’s great support to Pakistan in security, trade and infrastructure development, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan and China share same great future. CPEC, which is a massive multi-dimensional is the largest comprehensive project with any foreign country which will bring prosperity not only to Pakistan Pakistan but the also the entire region.
The prime minister said that Pakistan has a vibrant banking system that has achieved high level of profitability, improved liquidity and strong solvency position. He pointed out that the banking sector grew at an impressive annual average growth rate over the last five years.
Highlighting the great performance of Pakistani banking sector Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said it has a sound capital base, remarkable growth in assets and profitability and compliance with international standards poised Pakistan’s banking sector in a very competitive position in the region for investors. In addition, he said, the interest of international investors in the banking sector is also evident from the portfolio investment observed in the recent divestment transactions of UBL, ABL and HBL.
Lauding the vibrant banking sector of Pakistan Mr. Tian Guoli said that it offers immense opportunities to global investors. He said that CPEC has huge economic benefits for the people of Pakistan and the region. He also praised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s vision to put Pakistan on the road to development and turning around the economy.
