Players’ safety: Cricket Australia to introduce sensor-fitted-helmet

Cricket Australia has decided to introduce sensor-fitted-helmet to help avoid any other mishap like the one that resulted in the death of rising star Phillip Hughes.

The sensor fitted in the helmet of the batsman would help indicate the power with which the ball was hit.

Once this impact is determined, for which an IT company has already been contacted, it would help manufacture of better enforced helmets. It could take two years to produce the sensor.

Rising Australian cricket player Philip Hughes died after getting hit by the ball on the neck during a match at Sydney Cricket Ground on November 25, 2014.
